    An interior designer is a person whose job is to plan and implement the decoration and furnishings of building interiors. An interior designer discusses with a client to understand their requirements for a project, and then he or she develops a design for the project that is both aesthetically and functionally pleasing.

    An interior designer should be good at planning, organizing and solving problems, and have the ability to communicate effectively. They should also be enthusiastic, creative and imaginative, and have a strong sense of design to transform simple and ordinary spaces into beautiful, hospitable and personalized spaces.

    Interior designers may do some or all of the following:

    • inspect and survey the interiors of buildings to be decorated
    • discuss with clients to understand their requirements and offer design ideas
    • develop preliminary design plans based on the client’s idea and further deliberate on the design with them
    • select the most appropriate materials for the design
    • prepare the final design plan using computer-aided design software or other means
    • estimate the budget cost
    • supervise the design implementation
    • transform and enhance the aesthetics and functions of building interiors

    Interior designers usually work normal business hours, but may need to adjust their time to suit their clients schedule or deadlines. They work in design studios and on locations at private, public and commercial buildings. They may travel to worksites or to visit their clients.
