Many online merchants are employed by companies operating online stores for the purpose of ensuring that the products displayed on their online stores are categorized and positioned in such a way that will entice site visitors to make purchases.

    An online merchant should be comfortable working with technical tools and doing things in a technology based environment. They should be well organized, enthusiastic, observant, resourceful, detail-oriented and determined, and have good knowledge and understanding of web analytics.
