Gokada is an on-demand transportation company or motorbike hailing service headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. We are recruiting to fill the position of a Backend Developer in Lagos.

Position Summary

• We seek a Backend Developer who will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users.
• Focus will be on optimizing application for maximum speed and scalability. You will work side by side with Frontend Developer and other members of the Tech team.

Job Description

• Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developers with server side logic
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implementation of security and data protection
• Design and implementation of data storage solutions
• Integrate the front-end elements built into the application
• Develop all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database
• Ensure high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Backend developer
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective and efficient communication
• Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming language
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Basic understanding of frontend
• Great analytical skills for decision making and problem solving
• Good managerial and organizational skills which involve multitasking and rapt attention to details
• Knowledge of graphics software such as Adobe Suite, Photoshop etc
• Creativity
• Interest in company’s growth and self development
